1) Corporate IT force all emailed links to go via it, which then obfuscates the real URL making it impossible to see where a link takes you. Corporate IT also mandate that you manually check to see where a link takes you before clicking on it, and using urldefense.com prevents this.
i.e. trains people to ignore their IT security training.

2) It's slow, typically taking longer to redirect to the correct site than the target site takes to load.

3) It's unreliable - over the past week, I've had a number of times where it's simply failed to load at all (but bypassing it works fine).

TL;DR: It takes away more than it adds.
