Worst than being hacked - Webmail broke my trust

My webmail address of nearly 20 years has been closed without informing me. A lifetime of correspondence gone and now I have to pay a ransom to Webmail to get my data back. This is worst than getting hacked, I trusted Webmail when they promised me a free e-mail address and they have broken that trust.

webmail.co.za is a bad service

webmail.co.za is no longer a free service - they charge a hectic registration fee.

Furthermore, all old emails are gone, despite the promise that these would still be accessible. Technical support merely states that they are still busy with migrations and that all previous communications will be available soon/by tomorrow/by the end of the day. Of course, this never happens an weeks later all old emails are still gone.

Verdict:

highly unreliable and sh***y service. Avoid, avoid, avoid - pick any other email provider (there are plenty of free ones, even encrypted and without the need to have a cell phone number) or go back to using pigeons. Everything is better than webmail.co.za

Webmail has been down since last week Thursday (15 Sept 2022).
There is a message now that says its up again, but I cannot open, read or respond to any emails. I get an error. So, it is not fixed
There are too many ads now. Its impossible to work on mobile and even on desktop- so many ads. I am seriously considering moving. I cannot be locked out of webmail for 5 days on the trot.

For the incoming mail server you can use pop.webmail.co.za on port 995 with SSL or port 110 and no SSL.
Webmail does not offer an SMTP service and requires that users rely on their ISP for SMTP settings.

I have seen webmail said that "due to the short time they had to migrate some emails could not be moved to the new server before the old server was discontinued." This resulted in the loss of info.

The popups is obviously to generate revenue as webmail is a free service I suppose. I do not see these popups, because I am opening my emails in Outlook.

Webmail is up, but it gives Outlook send/receive errors. It appears there is problems with the pop3 settings. This is the error message: -
Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

How do I set up POP3 using www.Webmail.co.za?
The POP3 mail settings for setting up your mail client to download mail straight to your PC are:

Incoming mail server: mail.Webmail.co.za
(Please note if your mail domain is mailbox or starmail etc. the mail server name is mail.mailbox.co.za or mail.starmail.co.za)

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Your ISP
(This is the name of the server with which you connect to the web eg Netactive, Mweb or iAfrica etc. If you do not know either the name or IP address, contact them and ask them to give you this info)

Your account name: username@webmail.co.za and password are the same as the ones that you use with Webmail to log into your account.

Owen, The website is down. It cannot receive or send emails. I do not know how that email was sent to you then. Unless it is a hacker wanting to get your personal info.
I would not send it to them.

I can't access my webmail account since 20th August 2021.
I tried doing the reset password option and it refused my answers
I filled in their contact us page with all details including my cell number and email account in question.

tonight i got an email from them copied the email below

It is 2 April 2022 today. No access or reply or respond from Webmail. They do not even look at these comments. I suspect it is not a migration to a server, but have probably been hacked with all our passwords and info.

I have had my webmail address for over probably 30 years. Since 31 March 2022 I cannot login. (No Access) I do not know whether webmail.co.za has been hacked. the Red message on top stated from 31 March to 1 April. It is already 1 April and I still cannot login. Nowadays if I send an e-mail to a gmail account, it bounces back. Whenever one reports an issue, no-one ever replies.
